When the thing we don't want is the very thing we need.
Read Matthew 14:13-21
Has there ever been a time where you didn’t want to hear something, do something or be somewhere? Can you share?
After hearing that John the Baptist had been executed, Jesus and the disciples withdrew to a solitary place. But when they got there the people were already there waiting for them. The disciples wanted to send them away; Jesus told them to feed them. Why do you think Jesus did this?
Has there ever been a time where you’ve been asked to give but have nothing left to give? Can you share?
The disciples saw an inconvenience. Jesus saw an invitation. What do you think is God’s invitation to us in those moments?
Philip did the maths that showed it couldn’t be done. Jesus asked them to do it any because He already knew wheat he was going to do. It was a test. Of what, do you think? How does the struggle between your rational self and your faith play out sometimes?
Is there anywhere in your life right now where it might be that the thing you don’t want maybe exactly what you need? Can you share?
